All houses and feeders are made to order within 3-7 business days. Spring and fall are my busiest times so please be patient.
15" H x 9.25" W x 9.25" D with a 5" porch and 18 3/4" backboard
-Screw Closure, as pictured and recommended so predators can't open the box in a tree.
-Barrel bolt closure, perfect for easy opening in release cages, NOT recommended for hanging in trees as raccoons can easily open them. You will not get that tight door fit as you get with a screw closure.
-No interior shelf
-Half interior shelf (helps babies get up to entrance)
-Full interior shelf
We now offer to seal our boxes with nontoxic Agra Life Timber seal, It is a polymer sealer and does not resemble the polyurethane sealers in any way. The sealer has no odor and is barely detectable. It leaves a slightly rough surface which is good for the squirrels. They will not slip off it like they would a traditional sealer. This sealer is used by many zoos. Sealing the box may alter the color slightly and a reddish tint around some of the screws is an indication that the box has been sealed. You can also pop open the box and feel the smooth, unsealed raw wood interior vs. the rough exterior. Please allow 2-3 extra days for drying time if you are choosing the ‘sealed’ option.
Whether boxes are sealed or not, they will darken over time. This is not mold. It is the natural process of the wood.
Boxes should be mounted a minimum of 10’ in a tree. Poles are acceptable but leave the squirrels open to predators while trees provide some cover. Once the house is up in the tree leave it alone. Squirrels do not like to be disturbed and will not move in if they feel threatened. If you must clean it out, please wait until after the babies are gone.
We only use pine. Cedar has perfumes and oils that are not good for the squirrels to breathe in. Food grade nontoxic glue and homemade wood putty are also used to fix cosmetic issues. Exterior grade screws and nails are used as fasteners.
Please be aware that there is no guarantee any specific animal will occupy your house. Houses are designed by me and rehabbers to fit a specific animal's needs but that does not mean that that animal will move in there. Being that the holes are 3”, small birds may choose to nest in the spot. This is something that can only be stopped by pulling out their nesting material. The houses are designed to keep predators out. Squirrels can take a few hours to a few months to move in so be patient.
Proceeds go to help the animals at bRATS Misfit Mischief Sanctuary. The bRATS takes in abandoned, abused, neglected, hospice and behaviorally challenged rats. We are a no kill sanctuary. Proceeds from sales help with food, daily supplies, medical bills and transportation costs. You can follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/The.B.rat.Pack.14
NAS has worked with rehabbers since 2010 to design and build the absolute best squirrel houses on the market.
We release squirrels for our local rehab and proceeds from items sold go to help the animals in our care.

I love my new squirrel house and I love NutsAboutSkwerls! It is constructed with detail and quality and arrived within a week! I just got it up and don't have a resident just yet but I know they are out there as they love the water bucket as seen on camera and are at a higher elevation in the tree. Thank you so much!

These Squirrel nesting boxes are absolutely beautiful! They look like squirrel condos! They appear to be very safe, they have a guarded door, a porch and are very sturdy. You will not find a better quality nesting box/condo anywhere. The craftsmanship alone is enough to tell you the builder cares about what he is doing.
I ordered 4 boxes and they are really sturdy and great quality! They are bigger than I thought (which is awesome)! I will definitely be ordering more of these in the near future.
Zoomie, our rescued squirrel loves is box. After a slow release he is outside on our maple tree. It took him four days to accept the box in his pre-release cage. Very well made sturdy nestbox. Thanks!
After rescuing a baby squirrel and seeking help from a rehabber I decided to use my degree in Industrial Design to create products for these wonderful little critters.
